Strengthening human resources is the key to promoting the high-quality development of public hospitals. In her work report delivered at the “two conferences” of the hospital this year, President Zhang Shuyang pointed out that we should pursue the goal of training high-level medical talents, implement the strategy of strengthening PUMCH with talents, and build a strong talent cultivation system by training talents internally and bringing in external ones. Recently, two outstanding female scientists have joined PUMCH and will work to promote the integration of clinical and scientific research and the translation of scientific research results. A brief introduction of these two leading scientific talents is as follows:

Huang Chaolan: Professor and doctoral supervisor, received her PhD degree from the University of Hong Kong in 2003, and was a postdoctoral researcher at the Scripps Research Institute in 2005 under the supervision of Professor John Yates, the “Father of Proteomics”, and was subsequently appointed as a senior scientist on a permanent basis. In 2013, she came back to China to help build the National Center for Protein Science Shanghai and acted as the director’s assistant, the head of the mass spectrometry platform and of the technology department of the center. She was listed among the “CAS 100 Outstanding Introduced Talents”. In 2017, she became the director of the Center for Precision Medicine and Multi-omics Research at Peking University Health Science Center. She is currently the deputy director of the Medical Research Center of PUMCH and the head of the mass spectrometry platform.

She has been at the forefront of R&D endeavors in mass spectrometry and proteomics for more than 20 years, and has pioneered the “bedside to bedside” closed-loop clinical research model. She has published more than 90 articles in major international journals and many pipeline projects that she participates in have proceeded to the clinical translation stage, and she has been granted multiple patents. In 2021, she won the Bayer Investigator Award and one of her research projects was selected among “Top 10 Bioscience Progresses of 2020 in China” and another among “2020 Important Medical Advances” of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.

Dai Min: Research Fellow, Level II Professor, doctoral supervisor. She worked as a postdoctoral fellow and researcher in an international cancer research institute. During 2008 and 2022, she worked in Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and once served as the director of Urban Cancer Early Diagnosis and Treatment Project Office, deputy director of National Tumor Registry, and also director of International Exchange Office thereof. Currently, she is the Director of Disease Prevention and Early Intervention Research Unit, Clinical Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. She was appointed as a “PUMC Scholar” professor and tenured associate professor of Peking Union Medical College. As the person in charge, she has undertaken the Urban Cancer Early Diagnosis and Treatment Project, a National Major Public Health Service Project. She led the National Key Research and Development Program for Precision Medicine Project, Special Research Project of the Health Industry, a project sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation of China, and Major Innovation Project of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.

She is the vice chairman of the Special Committee on Tumor Screening and Prevention of China Health & Medical Development Foundation; member of the standing committee of the epidemiology branch and of the tumor prevention and control branch of Chinese Preventive Medicine Association; member of the standing committee of Tumor Epidemiology and of Tumor Etiology of Chinese Anti-Cancer Association; member of the standing committee of Standardization and Evaluation of Chinese Health Association; chairman of Tumor Prevention Committee of Beijing Research Association for Biological Products, etc.
